Oh how we wish it was Beyonce going to acting school. Or Solange going to…well…any school! But, beginning this fall, media mogul, president and CEO of Music World Entertainment (MWE), Mathew Knowles, will be teaching a course on the campus of Texas Southern University in Houston, TX. Knowles, who graduated from fellow HBCU Fisk University in 1974 with dual degrees—a BA in Economics and a BS in Business Administration—will teach an undergraduate level course this fall entitled The Entertainment Industry through the TSU School of Communication.
“Students who take Mr. Knowles’ class will truly benefit from the many relationships forged with the School of Communication,” said Ward. “Our goal is to provide these students with such a well-rounded experience that they will graduate on the cutting edge of the entertainment and recording industry.”
“We at TSU’s School of Communication are excited to have a man of Mr. Knowles stature coming to our campus to share his insights and wisdom with young people who are interested in pursuing careers in that field,” said Dr. James Ward, dean of TSU’s School of Communication.
Along with his extensive experience in the music industry, Knowles also has experience teaching on a college campus. He taught a course at his alma mater, Fisk University. This fall, however, Knowles will share his expertise and experience running MWE, one of the world’s leading entertainment and music conglomerates, with students at Texas Southern.
“Students who enroll in our new interdisciplinary major, Entertainment and the Recording Industry, will benefit from exposure to practicing professionals such as Mathew Knowles and exposure to our state-of-the-art recording studio housed in the KTSU Building,” stated Ward.
