Veteran actor Forest Whitaker has sounded off about Weistein Co.’s decision to send his movie straight to DVD.

Hurricane Season, which co-stars Lil’ Wayne, Bow Wow, Isaiah Washington, Taraji P. Henson and Michael Gaston  is a film based on the inspirational story of a New Orleans high school basketball coach whose team of cast-off kids wins the state championship.

Although the film was packed with heavyweights both in the acting and Hip-Hop world, it wasn’t enough for the Weinsteins to send to the theatres.

According to the movie house, the film “didn’t test well” during the screening process, which aided in the decision to go straight to video.

Whitaker,  who is currently filming a biopic about famed Jazz musician Louis Armstrong, is not appeased by the reasoning and had some very milled words to say about the decision.

“I think that was a travesty.  It’s not just about me, the fact that they didn’t do what they said they were going to do is amazing to me. I think that is the modus operandi. But a lot of people are telling me they saw the video on DVD and really responded to it and don’t understand why it wasn’t released and I say, ‘You’ll have to talk to the Weinsteins [about that], I can’t help you.”

Fans have had a chance to see the movie outside of the screening due to the movie being leaked in December of 2009.  Whether the bootlegging ultimately played a part in the Weinstein’s decision to release the film straight to DVD is unclear, but what seems to be very clear is the fact that the decision surprised everyone who was involved.

Bow Wow tweeted the following in response to the decision:

“Ay but thanks for yall liking the film. just wish yall had the chance to experience it the way you have all my other movies.”

This is hardly the only Weinstein project that, thanks to the company’s financial woes, has ended up going straight to video, but it’s a movie that deserved better.

Juelz Santana’s wild birthday bash is once again drawing some unwanted attention, but this time not for a big brawl, it’s for fraud.

According to the New York, two party goers were arrested for attempting to settle an almost $25,000 bar tab with a counterfeit American Express card.

The pair ordered 10 bottles of Moet Nectar Rose – which cost $400 per bottle – and even sent some over for Juelz Santana’s table as a birthday gift.

Once it was time to settle the $24,500 bar tab, the duo presented the fake American Express card and according to M2′s general manager Dan Devlin, that is when they were arrested.

Juelz birthday bash was certainly the party of the week, Snoop, Lil’ Kim and Ashanti all came out to the Dip Set rapper’s 27^th birthday event.

The occasion, which was supposed to be hosted by Diddy, was abruptly ended by police after a brawl erupted between Maino’s entourage and anonymous guests in the V.I.P. section.

SMH…I don’t know what dude did, but the end result was not nice. The beat down is what should have happened to the jerks that tried to buy up the bar with Monopoly money.

Two years after 50 Cent’s baby mama’s (Shaniqua Tompkins) mansion went up in smoke; police have finally discovered a possible accomplice.

According to published reports, G-Unit associate and 50 Cent’s assistant, Dwayne McKenzie is being accused by his ex-girlfriend, Shana Chin, of playing a role in the torching of the mansion.

The 5,200-square-foot home that was gutted by a suspicious fire was at the center of an antagonistic legal battle between the rapper and his former girlfriend.

According to Chin, she was dating McKenzie, who now lives at the multi-million-dollar mansion; and testified that McKenzie often carried a gun and had talked of torching a house that belonged to the rapper’s ex-girlfriend.

Once the report surfaced, McKenzie’s attorney fired back, stating that Chin, who is currently suing McKenzie for damages and medical bills, is a greedy, fame-hungry woman out for money and the chance to meet rap stars.

McKenzie, who has yet to respond to the allegations personally, was also arrested in August of 2009 for allegedly assaulting another woman [not Chin] in 50 Cent’s Long Island mansion.

“We’re gonna be moving from the Warner Bros. system to the Universal system.”

Port Arthur Texas Legend and one half of the legendary Under Ground Kingz, Bun B, has managed to keep the legacy of the late Pimp C alive with the release of 2008′s II Trill and 2009′s UGK For Life.

Now three years since the Pimp’s death, Bun is announcing a new direction through a new label now that he’s left Asylum Records for a spot at Universal.

He revealed the news to XXL saying,

“[This new situation] works better for me. I work better in the small system. When you’re in the big system it’s really about breaking you and exposing you and I think I’ve been able to build a career as far as just associating myself. We’re pretty good with that in-house with Rap-A-Lot. But with Universal we are gonna use their distribution legs and promotional chain, because they do have access that we haven’t been able to have before.”

When asked why he left his former home he tells XXL,

“[Asylum] helped me immensely over the last four or five years in my career as far as taking, me, myself and UGK to another level. It’s just that the system in house changed. Todd [Moskowitz] got moved up to a higher position and it doesn’t give me as much of an opportunity to be hand on hand on a lot of stuff.”

His next album Trill O.G. is set to hit stores in May.

Police in Indiana have 47-year-old Tony Perkins in custody after they say he purposely tried to spread the HIV virus to 100 women over a period of five years.

Authorities say Perkins used popular dating website PlentyOfFish.com to contact women, wine and dine them before passing along the virus.
His ex-girlfriend who was involved with Perkins and wishes to remain anonymous, turned him in and tells 6News Indiana,

“It’s my personal mission to help save lives. God spared me. I’ve tested negative for a year. My last AIDS test was in February. Maybe I was the angel to stop the anti-Christ.

She then says that when she asked him why he did it he replied,

“A whore gave it to me, so if a whore wants to sleep with me on the first night, she deserves what she gets.”

Police believe he had unprotected sex with at least 100 women, 10 of which have come forward so far.

Police now say they’ll go through his cell phone records to try and notify the other women.

He has been charged with failure of carriers of dangerous communicable diseases to warn persons at risk and intimidation.

An ex-lieutenant in New Orleans pleaded guilty to what many suspected; that police shot and killed unarmed civilians in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and tried to cover it up.

As previously reported an investigation was pending into the shooting of six people on the city’s Danziger Bridge six days after the massive hurricane hit.

Six people were hit; two fatally while walking to a grocery store.

The shooting killed a 40-year-old mentally disabled man, Ronald Madison, and 19-year-old James Brissette. The other four people were wounded.

For years the police claimed to shoot after only being shot at.

No weapons were found on the scene.

Ex-officer Michael Lohman, a 21-year veteran of the force, entered a guilty plea of conspiracy to obstruct justice Wednesday.

He says that he and six other officers launched a grand scheme to cover up the killing of the unarmed civilians including fabricating witness statements, planting guns and falsifying reports.

He faces five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Charges are still pending for the other officers involved.

The character known as Pimpin’ Curly may have landed rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in hot water that was deeper than the rap going back and forth with Rick Ross.

Lastonia Leviston is suing Jackon, claiming that he unlawfully distributed her homemade sex tape over the Internet and edited himself into the footage draped as a wig-wearing narrator.

Pimpin’ Curly strikes again!

Filing the lawsuit Wednesday in Manhattan, Leviston is making allegations that her name and image was used without authorization and has resulted in emotional distress due to the public release of the video.

If many people are speculating if this is the sex tape that Jackson stated was one of Ross’ baby mothers, continue contemplating the thought.  According to Leviston, the footage was of her and her lover and was made back in 2008.

Although Leviston can be identified in the footage, the lover’s face is blurred out.

There has been no word from the camp of 50 Cent and his lawyer has yet to respond to phone messages looking for comments on this particular mishap.
